About
It all started when…
Growing up in Tbilisi, Georgia I was surrounded by art and architecture that encapsulated the Soviet Design and infrastructure ranging from Formalism, Russian Futurism, Constructivism, and Soviet Brutalism. Using my cultural heritage as a backdrop, I build objects and furniture that rely on dynamic contrast of simple shapes, materials, and resolute colors to create designs that people adopt into their spaces. Careful thought and consideration are given to the potential for variable arrangements and modular components within my design works, an ode to design hallmarks witnessed in my youth.
This exploration of cultural artifacts leads me to various making processes while discovering a variety of materials and techniques. Through careful study and consideration of the materials and ideas for a design, I synthesize traditional and modern techniques to shape new design projects. My works underline function and utility through abstracted and austere appreciation of simple geometry to produce functional objects and furniture.
